Dear Mr. Hamilton,

I am writing in the hope that I might solicit your counsel in our search for
a new President for our client, the CarrollCenter for the Blind in Newton,
Massachusetts. Considered a national and international leader in the field
of blindness and visual impairment, the Carroll Center is committed
to fostering
the independence of blind and visually impaired persons by providing
rehabilitation,
skills training and educational opportunities to achieve
independence, self-sufficiency,
and self-fulfillment, and by educating the public regarding the potential of
persons who are blind and visually impaired. Every year over 2,000 individuals
face the physically, emotionally and financially demanding challenge
of adjusting
to vision loss with the CarrollCenters expert and compassionate assistance.
The CarrollCenter has continually pioneered new and innovative therapeutic and
learning methods for blind and visually impaired persons to achieve their full
potential in the home, the school, the workplace and the community.

Together with the Board of Directors, the new President will assess and ensure
that the Carroll Center meets its core mission of serving blind and visually
impaired children, adults, and seniors, while strategically growing
the agency,
diversifying its revenue sources and strengthening its local and
national reputation
and public support. S/he will serve as the agencys Chief Executive Officer
and will assume full responsibility for maintaining and building upon
the achievements
and reputation garnered by Rachel Rosenbaum, the retiring Presidents over
30-year tenure and the agencys innovative services. The President will oversee
the strategic, programmatic and financial operations of the organization, lead
a staff of over 80 members, and play a prominent leadership role in advocacy,
education and rehabilitation throughout the local, national and international
blind and visually impaired communities.

The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with
demonstrated experience
spearheading and navigating short and long-range initiatives, program
development
and revenue growth trajectories. S/he will have a proven track record
of nonprofit
fundraising and the ability to work successfully with the Board of Directors
and staff to direct, implement and oversee policies and procedures
that enhance
the agencys mission. S/he will possess the interpersonal communications skills
and ambassadorial presence to build successful relationships with funders,
stakeholders, clients, staff, government officials and the public, at large,
on behalf of the CarrollCenter. A minimum of ten years successful executive
level, non-profit experience and an advanced degree in Management,
Public Administration,
Social Work or a related field are preferred. Experience working with blind
or visually impaired individuals is a plus. For a longer more detailed version
