You gotta remember Mike's age.  *grin*

Back then, they had these things called typewriters, which were like word 
processors without RAM or hard drives, going straight from a mechanical 
contraption that resembles a keyboard to the paper.  Since people back then 
could not type their name before they learned to write it, they had to 
learn how to type in these things called typing schools.

If you're having trouble imagining it, just imagine a Perkins for sighted 
people, but even more antiquated and archaic than that even.
