[Blindtlk] Deafblindness's definition?

Hi listers: As a blind person with only light perception and with hearing
aids due to a 70% hearing loss in both ears would I be considered as
deafblind? I remember as a kid being able to hear crickets and all the night
sounds, thus lost my hearing at around age five due to being born premature,
thus I speak clearly and my voice sounds fine. However some people have
considered me deafblind, but feel uncomfortable with this title because
logic has it that a deafblind person is like Helen Keller not being able
neither to see or hear and therefore not being able to communicate normally.
All my life I've considered myself as blind, but deafblind? what's your take
on the subject? Yes, I know there's a deafblind list within the NFB Net but
would feel foreign joining, thus my question.
