[Blindtlk] drawing ideas

We were, in fact, talking about different devices. The device similar to 
what you describe is a Sewell Board and you can get them, I think, from the 
American Printing House for the Blind. The board his composed of a rubber 
surface with clamps at the top. You use these clamps to hold thin sheets of 
plastic something like celophane in place. You use a ball-point pen (less 
ink) to draw on the plastic. Rather than producing images on the opposite 
side of the plastic, what happens is that the pen stretches the plastic, 
deforming it such that one produces raised lines.
