[Blindtlk] Question Regarding Guide Dogs

If you're asking if the dog will guide both people at the same time, the
answer is probably no.
I have, on occasion, worked my guide dog on my left with a person holding
my right arm. I always insist that they continue to use their cane. I
think it would be asking a lot for a guide dog to ensure there is room for
two people.

I have heard of guide dogs given to couples. However I have only heard of
this in other countries where the availability of guide dogs is very
limited. To my knowledge it isn't done in the U.S. Also the couples guide
dog only works for one person at a time. They have to take turns working the
dog.

About your question about allergies...there are some programs that train a
very limited number of poodles, Dobermans, Boxers and Visla's. Those are the
breeds generally considered better for people with allergies. All those
breeds do have fur though.

I'd encourage you to join the NAGDU list where you could talk to a lot more
guide dog users about your questions.
