Department of Justice considering new ADA rules for accessible Web sites - Your comments requested!



The Department of Justice (DOJ) is considering some new regulations that would determine how the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is interpreted and enforced.  DOJ is considering revising ADA regulations to create specific requirements for state and local governments and places of public accommodation (businesses) to make their Web sites accessible.



DOJ would like comments that address these issues:

·         What standards, if any, it should adopt for website accessibility?

·         Should small businesses be exempt from some Web accessibility requirements?

·         Are there effective and reasonable alternatives to accessible Web sites?

·         When should any new requirements become effective?
