[Blindtlk] gross but what do I do?

Hi Bob. Take it as a matter of course that you will have to periodically
take them out and wash them off. Do it when in a stall in the rest room or
when alone in a place where you are not likely to be disturbed. I find that
the cleaner I keep my artificial eyes, the less drainage I get. Some of the
drainage comes from dried matter which accumulates on the artificial eye,
rubs against the socket, and makes it sore. I find that the matter
discharged increases when this happens.

Subject: [Blindtlk] gross but what do I do?
Hi all, here's a good one for you. I have two prosthetic eyes, the plastic
shell style which rides on round silicone implants in the sockets.
Fluid will build up underneath the prosthetic eyes and I will then pick at
the corners of my sockets to get it out or pull the plastic eye shell away
from the implant to then make it bubble out then wipe it off. I hate doing
this and I know it's gross but if I don't do it it will come out of its own
accord and that looks bad too as illustrated by my sighted wife who told me
one time that I "have something in the corner of your eye". I felt there
and it was fluid built up. I think that part of it is alergies but part of
it is simply the fact that everybody's eye socket produces fluid to keep the
eyes moist and mine is collecting under the eye shells.
When I go in for cleaning and maintenance of the eyes, I am told repeatedly
that the implants, the socket tissue, and the fit is fine.
Thanks much in advance,
Bob Smith
