There is a file loaded at the beginning, several actually. They are in
the SD card under Talking Books. But you may have deleted them after
listening to them, like I did, to save space. However, if you press
and hold the 1 key on the number pad, you can get to the User Guide, a
built-in feature. If you remove all memory cards (SD, flash, NLS
cartridges, you can go to the key tutorial, as well, which ttells you
what individual keys do when you press them.
