[Blindtlk] FW: blindisms

Well, I can attest to the fact that in schools for the blind there is
more of this behavior going on, and it goes unchecked because the
current trend in such schools is that more and more students with
multiple disabilities are attending, and people who are only blind are
being mainstreamed more often. I'm unsure whether this is because more
children are born with more severe disabilities, whether blindness is
more accepted now, or some combination of the two, but that's a whole
other discussion. I attended a public school until the end of ninth
grade, and then I finished my remaining 3 years at a school for the
blind. Some of the things that went on, from the substandard education
to how many people were socially not adapted (and these were the
people who had no other disabilities except blindness; of course there
are exceptions made when cognitive and physical disabilities are
thrown into the mix.) I'm not trying to give off a holier than thow
attitude or anything like that, but the number of people who had
blindisms was not even right.
