[Blindtlk] Navigating Cafeteria Lines

I wasn't good at them in college, but learned well after. Hold the tray against yourself with your arm over the tray, grasping the far edge. This leaves your other hand free for the cane. I do not have a good solutions for things on islands in the middle of the room, or well off the line. My best technique is to listen for other people. Drinks with ice make a particular sound. Salad, unfortunately, doesn't. I'll be interested in what you get here too.

I would be interested in answers to that. When I used to get my food in high school, we held the tray against our hip and that way, it stayed level. My question is buffets? I've never figured out a good way as a blind person to do that on my own. What does everyone else think?
