I think we're coming from different places in our philosophy, Cheryl. I
believe in the abilities of *blind* people. I believe that given the proper
training and opportunity, we can compete on an equal basis with our sighted
neighbors. I also believe that the NFB exists to promote that philosophy
and fight for the rights of blind people whenever necessary.

I don't believe that all other disabilities have a place in the work that
the NFB is doing. We're blind and we know the challenges and barriers we're
faced with on a daily basis. We are not all in wheelchairs or facing other
challenges. There are other organizations to champion people with other
disabilities. Beyond the fact that we are not experts in those areas,
financially, it would be prohibitive to take on all challenges.

So, until Eric comes to the place where he recognizes that he's a blind
person and the reason he was able to accomplish what he has is in some part
due to the work of the National Federation of the Blind, we may not be ready
to jump at an opportunity to give him the prime audience his father believes
he deserves.
