First, I wouldn't worry much about spilling a little sugar. It can always
be wiped up. Sugar is very hard to measure without spilling some.
You could scoop the sugar from the container. Then, while holding the spoon
or scoop over the sugar container, level it off with the straight edge of a
knife or with your finger. Then, carry it to the milk, while holding your
other hand under the spoon or scoop. That should do it, pretty well. But,
don't worry about spilling a little...everyone does, even sighted people.

Subject: [Blindtlk] how to pour sugar into a cup of milk effectively
Hello again,
I'm sorry to have to ask this question on this public NFB forum for the
blind, but I'm tired of making messes in my home kitchen...lol! my question
is stated in the subject line--every time I try to pour sugar or any
flavoring in my morning cup of milk I always end up with a mess (not big,
but possible to see by others) in the counter and I don't like it. Perhaps
there is an alternative technique I can use--I mean, what tips do you have
for this? How have you been taught to do this? any suggestions? ideas?
thanks and have a nice day!
Humberto
