Hello,
I would love to come. I have sailed with NCL two times before and have some
suggestions. I am a cane user. Please E-mail me at 24kjo at optonline.net. I
live in New Jersey and understand if I have to get there on my own. This is
a great idea!
Sincerely,
Johanna Baccan

Subject: [Blindtlk] Looking for 20 people to go on the Norwegian Gem for a
tour, lunch and meeting...
Good morning all:
I had mentioned this before but now it will become reality.
On Sunday, October 9, 2011 - Cheryl Echevarria of Echevarria Travel and
active and graduate of GDF is having a day with Norwegian Cruise Lines.
For those who do not know October is meet the blind month, so what a great
way to celebrate this.
This is being offered to anyone who is available to get to the Port of NY,
which is 12th Avenue and 55th Street in Manhattan, Pier 88.
Because many have had issues in the past with Norwegian Cruise Lines and
those who would just like to have the day to explore a cruise ship, find out
what is involved in cruising, what is accessible, what advice can we give to
the cruise lines.
It would start at 10AM and finish at 2pm. I am willing to get a local bus
company to charter this for us, but it will be $20 per person, and there
will be indicated stops in NASSAU and Suffolk County, possibly Queens as
well, but that will determine how many are interested in this event.
We will not be leaving the port at all, but a government issued photo ID
will be needed, if you have a passport even better.
It would be a tour of the ship of the staterooms, of the entertainment and
food areas, recreation areas, pool areas, etc.
Lunch in one of their wonderful restaurants and then a Q&A with the Access
Department of the GEM.
We are looking for all to join, guide dog users, cane users, wheelchair
users, hearing impaired, etc.
Maximum of 20 people to go, so I will be keeping track.
This is a great day to get us out, especially since October is meet the
blind month. If this works well, I plan to offer this to our other state
affiliates to get a taste of what to expect when cruising.
Please RSVP no later than August 10, 2011
If this works well, I will do it again in other states such as Florida
