Exactly Peter, there are many historic places to go in West Virginia, they may not have the theme parks you want to go to, but every place has something that will interest you.

Like Kruger Street Toy & Train Museum
Oil and Gas Museum
Blue Grass Music (I love)
Theatre
Civil War re-enactments,
They have some of the best Whitewater rafting in the country

never post something like that when we a travel agent on the list.

Plus like Peter said, ask a West Virginian

You may not think that there is something to do there, but there is something for everyone.

Ask a West Virginian. I believe there are a few on this list.

  Hi Peter and all,
  I have a question about this resort proposal. I know there's a
lot of stuff that goes on at convention, leaving not a lot of
time to sightsee and tour the convention city, but for ^
convention-goers who stay after the convention ends, will every
need a more tourist city? What is there to really do outside of
  the convention in West Verginia?

  Hello Cheryl and everyone,

Speaking of West Virginia I wonder if we would ever hold a
  national
convention at the Green Briar Resort. That place is luxury
  unlimited, a
golfer's paradise, and has a long-kept secret that was revealed
  only
recently. Is anyone up to sleeping in hotel rooms once reserved

no that is not true, like is said in my post that should come
  through
soon, we need to bring it to the floor of the convention, and if
  it
  is
voted and passed then it needs to be changed.

Many of us, and yes also me, just because I have my own business
  doesn't
mean I am wealthy, by all means no!

The NFB wants to make sure that the rates are affordable for
  everyone
  who
wants to attend. This was one of the largest convention since
  Anaheim I am
told, because so many could attend.

Also, remember when flying as well, some had to do 1 stop to get
  to
Orlando, it is a major hub in the airport industry, if we were to
  go
  to
another location that also has to be looked into.

Take for example: West Virginia (just did airfare for some from
  NY to
Clarksberg) they have to fly out of NY to DC and then from DC to
Clarksberg, popped into my head, Some people may not be able to
  get
  to in
the middle of the country or not near a major airport to fly out
  of,
  some
live near a small airport, and cannot get to a larger one to go
  direct or
non-stop. Some don't want to go to another gate, etc.

This has to be thought of ahead of time, and not just the
  location.

But again, to have this changed, they as a majority we need to
  let
  them
  know what we want.

   Hi,

because national thinks nobody wants to be away at that time and
  the
  hotel
rates are cheaper and what they want is the rule.

Why do we have national convention over the 4th? It's more
  expensive
  to
travel because of the black out rates in less you get a killer
  deal.
  It's
more crowded too. I like the format as it is now with convention
  ending
  with
the banquet on Friday. It was a little strange before with the
  grand
  finale
of the banquet on Thursday and a few activities on Friday. In
  the
  beginning
of the week are more division and seminar days and there's more
  flexibility
in the schedules depending on what you want. I agree that tours
  can
  happen
at the beginning and end of convention. I sometimes like the
  half
  relaxed
beginning of the week. I feel I have some time to
  brethe...sometimes.
  *g*
Also, tours before or after convention don't cut short because of
  other
  things convention related.
I was more attached to spending honeymoon time with Brent and
  didn't
  see
people I usually look up during national. Next year will be fun!
  Hopefully
the following year in Orlandos will be another fun one too.
  Peace,
  Cari

I agree with you and I also wish it was not
during a holiday week. Sometimes it is difficult
for me to get off work that week and I can never
get it two years in a row. We rotate holidays.

At 06:59 PM 7/9/2011, you wrote:
It was announced at the convention that conventions from 2013
  through
  2017
will be held in Orlando. I wish we could extend the length of
  the
  convention
back to how it was and NFB would
organize tours for Wednesday afternoon. That way, people could
  get
  excited
about Orlando and have time to go places. I liked the old
  schedule
  much
better. If we are going to keep people here for five years in a
  row,
  we
  need
to give them ample opportunity to take advantage of all there is
  to
  do
  in
Orlando. Besides, I like the banquet the night before the last
  day
  of
  convention.
