Hi all -- Thank you to those who replied.  I read on a web site that there 
are four different reasons why lovebirds bite and the owner needs to know 
body language to kind of figure out which reason it might be.  I can't 
quite bring myself to give her up yet, so I'll take the cheaper route for 
now and get some kind of relatively thin but durable gloves to use when 
I'm working on things in the cage.
