well stick with it... in my opinion, the next generation is a cruel hoax
for making more money. yes, it is sleeker, lighter in weight, but I don't
think it's reviews do it justice. The margin knobs are difficult to move,
the erase button is a joke... I'm planning to go back to the classic I
had...

Never tried that one yet since my classic is still going strong.

IDK what the labeler I have is called, but I do know that cutting the tape
is
hard to do and gets sloppy, messed up and I end up wasting the tape cuz I
have
to redo the label. It gets frustrating...

which do you prefer classic or next generation?

Robert & Nikki, that label tape holder you speak of is calle Dymo Tape
Holder
for Classic Perkins Brailler. You can get it from Perkins Products at Howe
Press
Perkins School for the blind, Amazon.com, Maxi-Aids and Independant Living
Aids.

Hope this helps,

T. J.

Hi Nikki -- as far as labelers go, I bought a thing from the American
Printing House for the Blind in Louisville which is a big, flat metal
strip with a big slit running the length along the middle of the strip. On
each end are two clips into which you can put braille label tape from a
role. You then put the metal strip into the brailler between the platin
and the roller above, just like you'd put in a sheet of paper but you
wouldn't roll it in. You couldn't roll it in if you wanted to because
there is a 90-degree bend in the strip so it will stop against the back
pannel of the brailler. The tape strip slides in between the top and
bottom elements of the brailler embossing head. I love this thing because
you can then use a brailler to label quickly and with total accuracy. When
you're done, you slide the tape out of the clips, cut it off the role, and
you've got your totally accurate braille label. I don't know what they
exactly call it, but I hope this helps.

Which do you prefer and why... the classic Perkins or Next Generation?

Are there other kinds of labelers other than the cheap plastic ones that
don’t cut well? If so, what are their names and use for?
