[Blindtlk] Fwd: U.S. Representatives Stearns and Bishop Introduce Fair Wages for Workers with Disabilities Act

It's to suggest that some blind people out there don't deserve 
minimum wage.

If they can actually do the work but don't, FIRE THEM and hire people 
who will.  If they are physically or mentally unable to do the job 
they've been assigned, then they're doing the wrong job.  It's that 
simple.  There are lots of people out there who could and would work 
if given the chance—and yet they remain unemployed because everyone 
agrees that working for two dollars an hour or less isn't worthwhile.

But Lighthouses for the Blind have been changed from sub-minimum wage 
sweatshops into thriving (and competitively paying) employment 
opportunities before, and it's always been to the benefit of all when 
it's happened.  All it takes is good management, as with any other 
enterprise.
