[Blindtlk] Resolution that didn't pass about apple

Hi everyone,

Ray, I completely agree with you! Come on, guys, think about it! We
are a minority, which means that we don't have a lot of people
speaking for us. This means that we have to speak for ourselves, and
this is what the NFB is here for. So, we urged Apple to make their
products accessible, they created VoiceOver, they worked with us, many
of us use their technology... for what? Only for the NFB, the
organization Apple has worked *with*, not against, to make their
products accessible to condemn them for not making everything
accessible? I think we need to continue a positive relationship with
Apple and other companies with whom we work to make products and
technology accessible, and strongly encourage those companies who
don't work with us to work with us and make their products accessible.
And if they ignore our requests to make their products accessible, or
if they show outright hostility tward us, then is when we fight for
our rights. While Apple isn't perfect, it has done many things to make
their products accessible; things they probably wouldn't have thought
of had we not approached them. I fear that if we start bighting the
hand that feeds us, they're going to say, frankly, "Screw you and the
rest of your blind friends" next time we ask them to do something for
us. I hope this makes sense!

--
Chris Nusbaum

"The real problem of blindness is not the loss of eyesight. The real
problem is the misunderstanding and lack of education that exists. If
a blind person has the proper training and opportunity, blindness can
be reduced to a mere physical nuissence." -- Kenneth Jernigan
