The answers to your questions are no and no. GPS is an orientation
system, it helps you get around by knowing where things are -- in a
general way. It is not a mobility system that can tell you about
steps etc. It could be dangerous to rely on a GPS system for things
it just wasn't designed to do. It can tell you where you are, give
yu street names, routes etc., but for detailed view you need cane or
dog -- and it doesn't work inside because it has to have view of sky
so it can contact satellites.
