Right. Also it's tough to find MSWord-compatible word processors on a Mac
that are very accessible. Open Ofice certainly isn't unless one runs a
Windows virtual machine on the Mac.

Well, as to whether Voice Over is better than windows or JAWS, to me it is;
but, you'll be the judge of that yourself when you take an objective look at
it. Personally, I do think it's better; but, I warn you now. It ain't
windows. Don't go in to this expecting Apple or Voice Over to act like nor
give you the same kind of feedback as windows. Why? The entire concept is
different. I'd refer you to the December 2009 Braille Monitor for a decent
overview.

program, it wouldn't complete and say something like "this is an invalid
platform. I was confused and didn't know what that meant. I called FS, they
told me to just download the 64 byte version and it will work. So, that's
what I'm running on now.

the voice over. Is it better than windows OS and JAWS? Would it be smart to
go in that direction? How well does it work?

>> Ok. Phew! I'm not the only one experiencing issues with JAWS not
responding. I think it's a number of things with my computer. #1. I have
JAWS 10 on a windows 7 laptop. #2. I let a friend talk me into downloading
all these different programs that will help speed up my computer. It helped,
but started causing problems. It is quite frustrating to hear a chimed
dialog box but nothing is said. The other day, as it was starting up, it had
a starting windows repair window open saying not to turn off or restart the
computer, but JAWS didn't say that. My 7 year old son read it to me and
asked me if I wanted him to close the window. The computer would have been
sitting here with that window open and I would have been getting upset and
worried that my computer wasn't starting up properly. Right now, I have a
window open for an adobe flash player update, but I don't know how to get to
it. Occasionally JAWS will say, "update ready to be installed" and that's
it. I have issues with Fire Fox as well. Every time I open it, I have to use
the "alt tab" command twice in order to use the program. Sometimes, when I
hit the applications key and scroll up to "send to," it will stop talking
before or just after I reach it. IDK if there is an auto correct in Word
2007, but, I'll be typing along and I'll want to go back, re read what I
just typed, and somehow my sentences were broken up and rearranged. It does
it in my email as well. I use Windows Live Mail because I don't know how to
use gmail on the site. -----Original Message----- From: Sherry Gomes Sent:

[Blindtlk] One thing I'm tired of I have that happen a lot with internet
explorer 9, and it is the application, not jaws, because when everything
starts up again, there's a message saying internet explorer stopped working.
Outlook too, oh man, it hangs a lot, just freezes and locks up the whole
darn computer, particularly first thing in the morning. -----Original

stopped responding for some reason. I find this happens periodically in
windows 7. Mike -----Original Message----- From: blindtlk-bounces at nfbnet.org

tired of In the middle of a task, command, or navigating the net, JAWS
just stops talking, sometimes with a stutter or short muffle. IDK what
its doing or why, but there are times when I end up turning offf or
restarting. Sometimes I can get JAWS back on. Any thoughts as to why this is
happening? _______________________________________________
