Judy,

I, like you used the Nokia phones with Talks, in June of 2011, I and my
husband got our Iphones. The Iphone is great. I will for warn you, there is
a learning curve to using it. You will get the phone, and be so frustrated
you will want to throw it across the room. But you must just stick to
learning the phone, then you will get to a point, where you love it. I am in
the love it stage. There are so many more things you can do with an Iphone
that you could never do with a Nokia phone. If you wanht to do more with
your phone than just make calls, the Iphone is for you. But if making calls
is what suits your needs, the Iphone is an expensive phone for just that
use. I have Verizon and have not be any place that I did not have coverage.
I also have the data plan, and the Iphone is no good without the data plan.
If your looking into the Iphone, there are lists for blind users of the
Iphone. There are websites dedicated to blind users of the Iphone, and there
lists of all the apps that are accessible to Iphone users. Not only do I
make calls on my Iphone, but I listen to books, movies, and music. I surf
facebook, twitter, the internet. I have not paid one cent for any apps, as
there tons free that are accessible. There are apps for taxi cabs,
transportation systems, ameture radio, internet radio, money idenfying, GPS,
and many more that I am not thinking of. I also use the Iphone to text and
check, write, and response to emails. Just my opinion about the Iphone. But
as I said I never had that much flexibility with my Nokia phones to do so
much, as I do with the Iphone.

Subject: [Blindtlk] Would like to hear from cell phone users.

After years of using various Nokia devices with Talks, I'm thinking about
switching to something else, or at least, seeing if there is anything better
out there. I'm very impressed with the iPhone and VoiceOver, but would like
to hear how easy it is to adapt to using the touch pad.

I'm not impressed with MobileSpeak voices, tried a phone using that in a
previous upgrade, and returned the phone and program.

I would like to hear from people about the pros and cons of the phones and
programs they are using, so I can make an informed decision this next
upgrade.

I am currently using Nokia's N96, but am not as happy with the phone as I
thought I would be. I have to replace the phone's plastic back every so
often, although I do love the Talks clarity of eloquence speech.

Thanks in advance for all your advice and suggestions.

Judy Jones
