[Blindtlk] Purging of Voter Roles

Hi Gary,

Well, I don't currently have a steady reader. I'm in that time period when I might not get things read for a few weeks. Granted, It's my responsibility to make sure I get important documents read, but the facts are the facts. The thirty day response requirement may put some folks temporarily in a bind, and might not allow for some sort of correction that is needed before elections. I'm interested in measuring whether the criteria used for purging are not causing an adverse impact on blind or print impaired person.

Hello ben. When you say you are concerned about blind people not having the
tools, are you concerned that we may have so little time with a reader that
we fail to see and act upon information provided from the Secretary of State
regarding our right to vote?

Keith,

I want to keep the politics out of the question, but certainly understand
and agree with many of your sentiments, expressed and not. Nevertheless, I
am concerned that blind persons may not either receive adequate notice, or
have the specific tools neded to remain registered.

Thanks for responding.

Hello Ben,
I know nothing of these specific efforts in Florida but my sense of
advocacy and awareness suggests to me that it may be disguised as a way to
bring in the need for Voter ID laws especially perhaps in Florida and in
other places.
You know or at least I do that certain political factions want to make
it more difficult for some people to vote whether the real need exists, and
mostly it doesn't seem to, but it may be an effort to disenfranchise some
people who are known to vote in favor of the other party.
I guess this gives us just one more reason to remain vigilant.
    Warmly,
Keith
