Hi,
It sounds like this may very well be partly your personality, too, and there
may very well be others at your workplace with very similar personality. If
you feel comfortable socializing when you can, contributing to office
get-togethers - things like that. You can look for any opportunities to be
a part of what is going on, as long as you're comfortable with that and is
natural for you.
Don't feel bad; I'm not that great with voices either, and I've pointed out
this short-coming to sighted people I first meet. Usually we end up
laughing, because most of them can't remember a face, either.
If you're outgoing, do what is comfortable for you, and look for
opportunities.
