[Blindtlk] self-driving car--legislation in California

Hi Jasmine,

That's the one. There is a feature that allows the autonomous driving to be
turned off and a driver to take over if the need arises. Keep in mind though
that Google is still testing the technology and they don't have it close to
being perfected yet. If they're hoping for blind people to be able to use
this technology, they're going to need to work on making the technology more
accurate and reliable so blind people won't be stuck without a sighted
driver who will be able to take the wheel if the technology malfunctions in
some way.

Chris

Hi,
Do you know if this is the same car
that was on the news a few days ago? The one that may need a driver to take
control if the need arises?

This seems really exciting!!! To me, it is amazing what Google has done with
this car.

Gov. Jerry Brown (CA) rode to Google headquarters in a self-driving Toyota
Prius before signing legislation that will establish safety and performance
regulations to test and operate autonomous vehicles on state roads and
highways.
