[Blindtlk] How we write doesn't mean we are writing to hurt or insult anyone

Is there an online version of the songbook? I once had a Braille copy of it,
but somehow lost it.

Also, find a copy of the NFB song book. We had more fun with the songs, and
most of them have a story behind them. We once had the NFB Choir who brought
holiday cheer to NAC when they met near the Christmas season. I doubt that
they enjoyed the music half as much as we did performing it.

It's a very good book; I just got done with Chapter 6.

Oh yes... "NAC, NAC, get off our back!" That was the chant which was used at
all NAC-tracking protests. Read "Walking Alone and Marching Together" for
more information on the Federation's relations with NAC in the 1970's and
1980's.

Oh yes, I remember NAC.

I will bring this up because it indirectly has to do with blindness in that
I was in Manhattan many years ago for a NAC tracking event. For anyone who
is knew to the Federation, NAC stood for the National Acreditation Counsel
of Agencies Serving the Blind, and we knew them for an organization who
really did not have the interests of the blind at heart, and we would visit
their meeting sites every year and demonstrate. Anyway, this day I took the

train into the city and got off at Pen Station, realizing that I had over 20

blocks of walking uptown to reach the hotel where people were gathering. So

I asked another pedestrian about transportation options uptown to West 57th
Street. He surprised me by asking if I wanted to take the subway or a bus?
I thought, "great transportation, and on Saturday." When I asked which
would be better, he said in this definite, loud but not rude way, "You got a

choice." When I decided to take the bus and he showed me where the nearest
bus stop was, I explained to him what we were doing, and in a facetious way
he said we should have brought weapons. Obviously he was kidding, but it
was that New York type of humor that I was expecting and could appreciate.
Incidentally, I don't think I waited more than 2 or 3 minutes for a bus
coming up Eighth Avenue, yes, even on a Saturday morning.

I think that taken out of content, it meant to say we New Yorkers give the
shirts off our back to help those including our shoes and socks thrown in.
The cross dresser thing, don't know if you were kidding, but we might have
them here on the list, so please be kind to what you write.
Because we have LGT members with the NFB and some of my closest friends with

the NFB are Gay or Lesbian or cross dressers.
