I'm in agreement with you, Chris.  I'm a wuss, and more often than not the 
folding canes are so heavy.  I walk briskly, so I tend not to like to use 
canes that will slow me down.  Sometimes straight canes can be a bit of a 
nuisance, but they work for me.

I'm one of those people who sticks to the good old-fashioned NFB metal tip.
Seems to me that this tip is pretty good in all kinds of conditions.
