[Blindtlk] liberal vs. conservative was Adjustment to Blindness Training, NFB Centers or Not?

Well now, I did not know that. Let me put things solidly back on track by saying that oficially, the NFB cannot take stances for either the right or the lefft. Good thing too. Why? Simple. IF the NFB took a stance strictly for the right, it would alienate those on the left: and, there's a fairly good chance they would leave and form their own outfit. Nor can the NFB take stances for the left. Why? Same reason. It would alienate those on the right who might perhaps then leave and form their own outfit. Now, stop and consider what would happen if either or both occured. We would no longer have an NFB. We've always prided ourselves that we are a cross section of society: and thus, a true reflection of the people of this country. Conservative federationists like me just accept the fact that their are liberal federationists in the group whether we like it or not. We accept this fact because, honestly, it's better to have them join us and make a more powerful movement than to have them seperate from us and thus have more splintering. Perhaps they feel the same way about us. Look, after what happened from 1957 to 1962 when the ACB was formed because some people wanted to either rule or ruin the federation and got mad because they couldn't get their way, do you honestly think we want yet further devition? I suspect not. That is why the NFB has very wisely concluded to keep away from such matters in so far as they concern blindness.

That's also why we don't tolerate such discussions here.
