NLS could not be privatized and god help us if it could. Virtually the entire Library of Congress is shut down along with many other important and essential services. Bookshare is a great service, but its mission and complexity are small when compared to those of NLS. Rather than sit and whine about BARD's being down, go back and read some of the stuff you've already downloaded over the years. Those who work for BARD and other furloughed agencies don't have the privilege of re-cashing some of their old paychecks. Beyond that, we can all resolve to vote out all of those currently in Congress who chose to hold the working
People -- blind and sighted -- because they could not have their own way.
