[Blindtlk] FW: Accessible scanning apps

I've tried Text Grabber, Text Detective, Prismo and a couple others and none
perform to my satisfaction. I want a text app that does as well as, say,
LookTell MoneyReader. Admittedly, the latter has less to recognize.

The principal problem with all these text apps is that in the end, they
depend upon the reader being able to center and place in focus the text to
be recognized. Also, at present, iOS doesn't allow the control over the
camera (glare detection, lighting, contrast, etc.) that is needed to do the
sort of job KNFB Reader Mobile does. iPhone cameras are about good enough
now but I don't think iPhones have a xenon flash which helps.

Incidentally, for automagic recognition of objects, I like an app called
Talking Goggles. I don't think it relies on Crowd-sourced recognition or
paid recognizers (whose wages we do not know) such as apps like TapTapSee
(which, in my opinion, was a bait-and-switch proposition) do.

I use Text Grabber and it does a pretty good job.

Lots of them ... IMO none do a very good job although some practice with
them helps a bit.

Hello!

Does anyone know of an app that will take a picture of a printed page and
convert it to accessible text?
