Hi Mike, You really don't need the stands and I just mentioned them because
if a person does have a problem with free scanning, the milk crate idea is a
cheap alternative.
As far as text recognition, this can be dependent on what phone you use and
the conditions you are using it in. In the case of a friend of mine that
has a 5 s, she discovered that while using it on a train with image
stabilization she could not read as well as before because they have
incorporated image stabilization in the app and with the trains movement it
actually made things more difficult. In my opinion, the apps are only
getting better and with the new phones and better cameras things will only
improve. Just one persons thoughts. If you would like any suggestions,
feel free to write me off list and I'll do my best to help.

I don't think any of the stands are sufficiently portable to be truly
practical. And often one wants to take a gander at something while on the
move and stands are virtually useless in such situations.

Some people like Prizmo, but I have found that Text Grabber is very good and
for me much more responsive. There is a product called Standscann pro and
it works well for stabilizing the phone as you take a picture but we have
also found that you can use an old plastic milk crate to put the document in
and to rest the phone on and that works really well. Not as portable but if
you are only using it at home it is not an issue.

I use Text Grabber and it does a pretty good job.

Lots of them ... IMO none do a very good job although some practice with
them helps a bit.

Hello!
Does anyone know of an app that will take a picture of a printed page and
convert it to accessible text?
