Pastor Klein--

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I have never had a guide dog, I have
had cats pass away. It is truly hard to lose an animal when they become a
part of you after so many years of mutual care. Thankfully the two cats I
have are doing well, but Shelby is 13 this year. She has seen me through
many seizures where I had to go to the hospital, came to me when I had to
work at the nursing home sometimes and slept with me for years. She is
smart enough to know when I forgot to take meds before I am. Too bad
there aren't seeing eye cats@ I wish you the best in your transition. God
will help you through it. He even taught a friend of mine that even
thought he hated dogs after his wife's guide dog had to be put down he
really missed the girl. Just the sound of nails on wood would normally
drive him nuts but how he misses it. Not enough to get his own dog, but he
admits he likes the dog more than he though. How do you prepare a child
for loss of a guide dog? Their sighted daughter loved Frango so much and
still misses her after three years. IT's rough.
