[Blindtlk] Google maps and other ways to get directions between two places

Arielle, you might also want to do something like BlindSquare, as it works
very well with Google Maps.
Good iPhone app giving Seeing Eye a run for its money.

Congratulations on the job. You'll love Seattle. I do!

I've never heard of the APH Talking Maps program. You recommend it?
How much does it cost?
I purchased maps for Sendero Seeing Eye GPS on my iPhone and it's great for
getting directions between my current location and a destination, but I
don't think it has the ability to explore places I am not currently in or to
direct me between an origin that I am not at and a destination.
I also played with the map exploration on Ariadne GPS, but I had trouble
controlling how quickly my finger moved across the screen. I felt like I was
missing streets and it was hard to explore one block at a time. Hoping APH
maps will be better.

To Jim and anyone else who was curious, I got a postdoctoral fellowship at
University of Washington's rehab medicine department. A postdoc is basically
a two-year entry-level research job for somebody just finishing their Ph.D.
I will be analyzing data and writing research papers related to the
psychological and health experiences of people who are 45 years and older
and have physical disabilities such as MS and spinal cord injuries. I will
also be helping them develop an intervention to build resiliency among older
adults with MS. I'm really excited and hoping to find a permanent disability
research position once the postdoc ends.
