You're right. I played with it some this morning and although useful,
BlindSquare didn't do the exploration the way I thought. It's Ariadne Gps
that allows some exploration -- but even then, it deals with your immediate
area ascertained via GPS. But I believe that perhaps one can enter other
area specifications to explore. But I doubt it as this would require more of
a database than Ariadne Gps has. While at the National Center, though, I did
see a map representation of the immediate area but I really didn't find it
all that helpful in that it didn't convey things like driveways and
landmarks that *I* use for orientation.

Ah well.

How do you explore with Blind Square?  I can look around and see what is in
the area, but that doesn't tell me anything about how the streets run as do
the APH Talking Maps.
