Letter to the dean is a good idea.

Yes, you were discriminated . I would write a letter to the dean, and see
what you can do, just my opinion here.

What would you do if this happened to you?
A week prior to my midterm exam. I scheduled to take the exam in the
Testing Center using the University's Assistive Technology. That same day I
requested to familiarize myself with the equipment (CCTV). In doing so the
Assistive Technology Coordinator sat with me as he showed me how to use it.
However, he could not figure out how to use the machine. He spent over an
hour trying to get it to work and nothing. Promised me that he would have
it working come test day. Test day comes and its still not working. I
couldn't believe it. I could have just sat there and done nothing but I
still wanted to get this exam over with so I asked if I could take it in
the computer lab since we had a pdf version of the exam. The computer lab
has 1 computer with Zoomtext to enlarge the exam. This is the only computer
with Zoomtext and Jaws on it. ONLY 1! It is normally very quite in the
computer lab but of course not that day. I had a noisy environment and I
could not concentrate very well nor see the exam very well even thought it
was enlarged. I had to navigate around the screen too much to see the whole
sentence of each test question. It was just difficult. I told the Disabled
Student office at that campus and then spoke to the Coordinator at the main
campus. The next day, in another class my professor emailed me once she had
heard about the situation and told me that I had been discriminated against
under Section 504 and of my Civil Rights. I had no idea that having
inadequate or ineffective services or equipment was considered
discrimination. I've been just putting up with it for so long I guess I got
uses to it. Please let me know what you think. And be sure you learn what
your rights are. Sine I had no idea.
Thank you,
Mari Huzniker
