[Blindtlk] VoiceOver question

Hi all,

I'm a (fairly) new iPhone user and am having some trouble with 
VoiceOver this evening.  Earlier, I got a message saying, "Speech 
off" (I'm not sure how I made this happen), and now nothing on 
the screen is being read to me, though Siri tells me that 
VoiceOver is still on.  I tried turning my phone off and then on 
again, but when it restarted, it said "VoiceOver on; speech off." 
Though it seems VoiceOver is technically on, it's not reading 
anything to me.  Can anyone tell me how to solve this problem?
