[Blindtlk] shopping assistance

Hello all!

I’ve been pondering a personal ethical dilemma and thought I’d ask here for some perspectives.

When I go to the grocery store I request an employee shopper assistant. That’s fine, I have no issue with that part and neither does the store.

Here’s my dilemma. My son works at the grocery store. I used to just go when he wasn’t working because I feel awkward having him read for me while he’s on the clock. I am fine with him reading for me when he’s not working though.

Now he’s working so many hours, I suggested he should take a sleeping bag. It’s not going to be possible for me to go shopping when he’s not there. I would like to request his specific assistance when I’m there, but I am feeling a bit awkward about this. He’s an excellent reader, knows what brands I buy and he knows the store very well. I can get my shopping done much faster with him as my reader. However he’s my son and it feels wrong somehow to specifically request him to be my reader.

So am I making something out of nothing here? should I just request assistance and deal with who ever I get, even if it doubles my shopping time? All thoughts are welcome!

Julie
