[Blindtlk] Microsoft Word, or JAWS question...

Hello:

Hey, Thanks, I have the same problem. I guess we all get those little
troublesome gremlins who love to mess with our computers. This afternoon I
had a strange thing where Jaws 16 booted up speaking extremely fast and very
quiet. I had so much trouble hearing it that I used a copy of NVDA I had on
a thumb drive. I finally had to re-install Jaws to get it speaking again.
Also, while we are on the subject, I was in MS Word trying to print an
envelope and letter. For some strange reason the silly computer kept going
into Open Book instead of printing. I've had Open Book since I purchased it
at the convention and this has never happened before. I kept exiting out of
Open Book but the same thing happened several more times. I was under time
pressure to get some things out into the mail so finally uninstalled Open
Book. If I purchased Jaws 16 at the convention, am I entitled to upgrade to
17? This old desktop is going in this week for more memory so hopefully
I'll quit getting low memory messages and everything else will work better.
Oh, I am using Windows 7, should I consider upgrading to 8 or 10?Now before
someone yells at us for asking too many computer questions on this list, is
there a list specifically for computer questions. Thanks for your
understanding and cooperation with some of us who are not computer geniuses.

Sandra

Open up word. Press alt F and then arrow to options and press enter.

This puts you in a list of categories. Press D for display. Then start
tabbing. It will be quite a few tabs. You're looking for an item that says
something like, show all formatting. If this is checked, press the space bar
to uncheck and then tab to okay and hit enter. This seems to get turned on
in word sometimes.

Subject: [Blindtlk] Microsoft Word, or JAWS question...

Hello everyone. I hope that you will be able to help me correct an issue
that is driving me crazy!

I am using Windows 7, Word 2010, and JAWS Professional. Everything has
been working wonderfully, and I have been going smoothly. Last night I shut
down my computer, and then of course this morning booted back up once I was
back at work. But I do not know if I accidently checked something,
unchecked something, or did some other little thing that I was not aware of.
No one else has access to my computer, unless evil little elves broke into
my office last night, and messed with my computer and then ran away
laughing! LOLL

The problem doesnâ?Tt seem to be in any other program other than MS
Word. But everything reads fine when I do a read all command. But when I
either navigate word by word or letter by letter, JAWS is now suddenly
saying â?ospace markerâ? at every space, and â?oparagraph markerâ? at
every paragraph. It use to simply say â?oblankâ?, if it was on a empty
line, and space if I was going letter by letter, or word by word. But now
it seems to be speaking all of the â?o"format markings, which is confusing,
and far more information than I need.

Does anyone know how I can get JAWS to not give all of the additional
information?

James
