Is the bread machine a hassle to clean?  I have always made bread by hand 
and used the oven.   Does the machine do the kneading and mixing too?  I'm

I used to have one and it just sat there because I didn't have any space in
my kitchen for it. Now I regret getting in the way when I was divorced. 
You're probably right that it's easier to make friends there and use an
oven. My apartment on is not reliable and those are set to a certain time
and temperature. Good for you!
