You are correct in your guess.  Actually, you might say that the air frier 
is not a true frier in the strictest sense of the word:  rather, picture it 
as a very compact convectionary oven.  IF you fry stuff frozen from the 
store, "frozen fries or chicken nuggets), no Greece at all is needed.  If 
you cut your own fries, however, at most, you need perhaps a tea-spoon of 
oil.  That's because it uses rapidly circulating hot air instead of all that 
oil.  Nice idea in theory, but, I'm a tad skeptical.
