Hello:

I do not know of any free source for a computer but, there is a very low
cost program. Computers For The Blind www.computersfortheblind.com. They
will sell you a used computer that has been refurbished and loaded with
Windows 7 professional and some free software, including screen enlargement
magnifier and screen reading software. A desktop is $110 and a laptop is
$150. I got a laptop last fall and so far, it is working fine.

Have you tried getting funding from your rehab agency? Your state may also
have a technology assistance program through your department of disabilities
or your library for the blind. Finally, you might try getting a grant from a
local Lions Club or another local service organization. Sorry I can't help
with the cane question; the only source for folding canes I know of is
Ambutek (the manufacturer,) which sells them for about $30 to $40.
