I know how to turn it off. It would be helpful to know what version of word
you have, but I'm going to give steps for 2007 and up.

1. open word, press alt F and arrow to options. Press enter.

2. you'll be in a list of categories. Press D for display. Do not press
enter.

3. Start hitting the tab key, and you'll have to tab multiple times. You are
looking for a check box that says show all formatting. Once in a while this
turns itself on. Tab to show all formatting and press the space bar to
uncheck the box. Don't pay attention to the settings along the way. You just
want show all.

4. Tab to okay and hit enter.

                I hope someone can help me with this question. Sometime in
the past couple days I must have changed some setting in Word. When in a
Word document, it is reading page breaks, paragraph markers, line markers,
etc. I don't know how I turned it on and cannot, for the life of me, figure
out how to turn it off! Can someone tell me where I did this and how to fix
it? It is very annoying!
