Wow, ingenious.  However, it sounds like the tip of the brush is just going over the ceiling, and that's a lot of strips.

In overlapping strips, are you in danger of streaking?  Also, is there a way to tell if enough is enough?  Depending on the materials, I know some walls will absorb paint more readily, taking more layers.

I also don't know anything about stripper or primer before putting on paint.  What can anyone tell us about those, would love info.

Overlap, if using a roller paint one vertical strip then move half the width of the roller before painting the next strip.  Ceilings shouldn't be a problem if a tennis ball is cut in half and a hole is punched in the center of one of the halves.  The brush handle goes through the hole so the bristles are coming out of the inside of the ball half.  The ball half catches drips that don't end up on the floor.
