[Blindtlk] Question about SSI

Hi friends. I know it is an election year, and we all have feelings. Please remember that these list are not political in nature on purpose. We want to avoid political statements, since, by their nature, they are bound to alienate someone. I am not a moderator of the list, but have been around to know how people react. Thanks for your help.

Same way I feel about Scott Walker. Tea party governor. Says it all

A number of people are aware of my very left-wing political leanings. But I will say that if these tea party governors get a chance, they will ignore federal law and try to get around it just to push their agenda. I trust them about as far as I can see, LOL, and judging by some of the things LaPage has tried to pull, I trust him less then that. Alright, Mark, enough!

There are ways around things. If the letter of the law was followed, everyone wanting to go to an outside training center wouldn't have to fight for years there is absolutely nothing in the state of Wisconsin even close to compare to an NFB training center and everyone knows it but still totes they're useless options. Behind the scenes, we've already passed a resolution at state convention last year to start creating a similar training center. Who knows how many years I will take though. Politics here is as dirty as people complain about Illinois lately.

I suspect that welfare reform act passed by Bill Clinton put this requirement in on social security and s.s.i. That would put the change into effect probably shortly after you applied 20 years ago.

I have asked other friends of mine at the training center that I'm at if they had to show up at their Social Security office six months after they were approved for SSI benefits, and they said no. My mom thinks that it depends on the state, and that the reason they do that is probably because they want to make sure that you're not cheating in getting SSI (by the way, the people at the training center that I'm at come from all over the country).
