There are some things one just has to laugh off and move on, that's the only way.  When you do that, you are really the one with the maturity and poise.

Hi all,
In my younger days, I felt very awkward in situations like those described, especially when folks would walk out of the room and I was speaking to thin air.
But, over time, I've come to realize that it is not my fault that someone spoke loudly or walked out of the room and there was really no reason why I should feel awkward. I am 55 years old and it took a long time for me to come to this realization.
