I'm a bit old school and still appreciate the headphones myself so I can understand wanting a jack on the phone as opposed to needing something Bluetooth. 

I totally agree that nothing less than a 5SE should be bought. I had a 5S and was having problems a while ago with the new updates. The 6 and 6S work well and it will be around for quite some time. 

It depends I think more on what you want to use your phone for. If all you want is making phone calls on your iPhone and saving contacts, then probably a iPhone 4 would be OK. If you want to do much more on it, it won't have the power to do things or to be able to update. Back then they didn't give you as many storage options either. I don't know what you plan to use yours for but keep this in mind. I do everything on my iPhone 6 Plus which does have a headphone jack and I am really happy with it. When I mean everything that's exactly it. I don't have a computer!
