Different setsof parents handle things differently.

Our house was very open, and it seemed like my sister and I were always
having friends in and out.

But my husband tells a different story in his household.

Yes they restricted my siblings the same way.  One of my older 
sisters was allowed to have her best friend over occasionally to 
spend the night.
