I'm not aware of any changes, and am only starting to use JAWS. When you
start a download, try ctrl-J. This pops up a dialog box inside your browser
showing progress of your download. I wouldn't think that you would need a
download manager.

Subject: [Blindtlk] Downloading with Firefox and JAWS

Hi all,

I have a laptop that I've had for almost two years now. I first
got it when I was doing my blindness training, and my tech
instructor suggested that I use Firefox rather than IE, because
there is better support. However, I've recently attempted to
download a couple of things, including the HumanWare Companion
software so I can use my Victor Stream with my laptop, as well as
a radio show. In both instances, when I hit enter on the
download link, my computer was completely unresponsive and didn't
click on the link, although, with the Companion software, my
computer did ask me if I wanted to save the installation file,
and I said yes, but it didn't do anything afterword. All other
links work fine on my computer except for the download link. Has
anyone else experienced this problem? Do I need to set up some
kind of download manager for Firefox? I've never had any issues
downloading anything with Internet Explorer on my desktop, and
I've also never changed browsers on my laptop. Is the
download/installation process the same on both browsers?

I hope to hear from you all soon.

Thanks,

Sami
