[Blindtlk] Duplicate Contacts in Imessage with Iphone 8

Hi All,
I know it's been a very long time since I've posted on this list.
I got an Iphone 8 last month.  Previously, I had had a 6 which 
I'd lost.
When I set up my new phone, I got my contacts back from Icloud, 
but instead of using an old phone restore I just started out 
fresh.
When I save contacts, I put labels on their phone numbers, such 
as "home" or "mobile".  My contacts look completely fine from the 
Contacts app, but in Messages they are duplicated.  For example, 
when I type in a name, instead of just seeing "John Smith, 
mobile, 1234867899", I am seeing two John Smiths: one with and 
one without the "mobile" label.
Has anyone had this problem before?
