[BlindTlk] Tying Ties

My husband learned to tie a tie using various knots, but has settled on his
favorite one.

However, we had little girls, and yours truly never learned to tie a tie. I
probably would have, had we had little boys hahaha! Now, I'm going to have
to ask my married daughters, out of curiosity, if they have learned how to
tie a tie along the way. They both have daughters, so that is probably not
on their priority list right now.

No. However, let me see if I can walk you through the procedure for a
Windsor knot.
Put the tie on under the shirt collar with wide side on your right and
sceam of the tie facing your shirt.
The narrow side of the tie will be on your left.
Position the tie so the tip of the narrow end is a couple inches above
your belt buckle.
Make sure no wrinkles exist under your collar. All of that was
preparation for tying your tie.
Next take the right end of the tie and lay it across the left end of the
tie and take the right end of the tie under the left end after laying it
across the left end.
Now, pull the long end of the tie up in back of the tie so the long end
now hangs down the center of your shirt.
Take the long end of the tie and wrap it over the small triangle knot
that you just created from right to left and bring the long end up
behind that knot and take the tip of the long end of the tie and slide
it between that small triangle knot and the tie you just wrapped around
now. Careful here pull the long end down slowly and if you kept the tie
fabric flat as you did this, you should have a larger triangular knot
with one of the points pointing at the floor. You'll need to practice
this a few times since you want to have the wide end of the tie a little
longer than the narrow end. You adjust the tightness with the narrow
end of the tie. Pull the narrow end out of the wide part of the tie to
untie the tie. I hope this helps, it's been several years since I tied
one of these but I still remember how to do it.
