I would like to invite any interested folks to a phone group to encourage
and support each other as we move toward our individual health and fitness
related goals.
I have hosted this group for a couple of years now. We took a break for a
few months and are settling back in and working hard. We are currently
meeting on Saturday mornings at 8 Pacific, 9 Mountain, 10 Central and 11
Eastern, although that time will likely change based on the needs and
preferences of the group.
There is no cost to join, no obligation, nothing to purchase and no specific
plan to follow. Everyone achieves their goals in their own way and in their
own time. Some participants have been more focused on going to the gym,
others use the group to compliment what they learn in Weight Watchers and
yet others use aps like My Fitness Pal. It is completely up to you. It
doesn’t matter if you want to lose 5 pounds, 50 pounds, are training to run
a marathon or want to start an exercise program for the first time.
Group guidelines:
* each member will take a few minutes each meeting to update on his/her
progress, sharing only what you are comfortable with, no pressure to give
your weight
*if help is wanted please feel free to request it, but do not tell others
what they should do
*no shaming of any variety, based on weight, fitness level, blindness skills
or anything else. The whole point is to motivate and support each other.
*at the end of each meeting we will choose a topic to discuss. These range
from a struggle a particular member may be having, to tips when dining out,
to gaining family support, to talking with health care professionals, to
exercise ideas when it’s difficult to get out, to accessible health/fitness
aps or anything else health and fitness related that there is interest in
discussing
*the meetings are very casual, but please keep on topic
*we keep the health/fitness portion to 1 hour and after that individuals may
stay on to chat about whatever you like
I use Zoom for these meetings. You can join by phone or computer. If
